Welcome to the EEO Training Workgroup Wiki
Greetings EEO Training Workgroup! It was great meeting everyone last week. Thanks again for your participation and the fantastic turnout of CCROC, CAERP, and SPIN members.
We kicked off a lively discussion of the key issues facing the EEO community. The meeting minutes are provided in the Sidebar on the right. Feel free to add your comments to the minutes.
This WIKI site will give us a vehicle to share ideas and information. It is designed to help us to reach our goal in creating a standards based EEO curriculum that will meet the needs of State and Local governments. We are excited to be working with all of you to invoke EEO standards and training that can be consistently applied across the board for EEO Officers and Investigators.
October Meeting:
The Workgroup has agreed to meet monthly. The next meeting will be on October 19, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Department of Fair Employment & Housing (DEFH) in Elk Grove. Free parking is available. Click on the link below to see a map and get directions to DEFH.
We are doing all we can to make it worth your while to attend the workgroup meetings. Those of you who missed the first meeting will not want to miss the next one. We are planning to give you a sneak preview and possibly a DRAFT of the NEW DFEH Case Analysis Manual, which has been updated for publication.
We are requesting a preview because the workgroup agrees that the manual has the potential to serve as a basis for the EEO Standards that are needed.
What is the purpose of the EEO Training Workgroup?
The EEO Training Workgroup came together in response to the growing need for EEO Standards and Guidance. It is a collaboration of the State Personnel Board (SPB), Department of Fair Employment & Housing (DEFH), California Civil Rights Officer Council (CCROC), California Equal Rights Professionals(CAERP), and SPIN (Small Personnel Information Network) to establish a framework for EEO best practices, including those recommended and enforced by the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Some of us came in hopes of gathering information to build the foundation for a EEO standards based curriculum to ensure that EEO requirements are being consistently applied throughout the state. Most of us came from departments that have EEO programs in place, but due to the nature of our jobs, we are forced to operate with training and guidance materials that need updating. Most would agree, that our goal is about developing a standards template that could be used in any governmental agency and that could be tailored to fit individual department needs and multiple audiences.
How are we going to accomplish this?
We will "pitch in" to develop a "What" and "How" list that can be used as a reference and collaborative work tool in developing the standards and training.
What an EEO Officer needs to know
What an EEO Investigator needs to know
Sample EEO Curriculum
Checklists (for Supervisor's, new EEO's)
Training Delivery Channels
We will work together to create "road maps" for EEO Policies and Guidelines.
